Transitioning Transit and Peering Links to New Routers Impact of Work: Description of Work:
Date: July, 7 2010
Time:10:00PM GMT-600 (MDT) - 2:00AM GMT-600 (MDT)
Purpose of Work: Transition Transit and Peering Links to New Routers
Latency and packet loss as routes reconverge when cut over between routers.
We will be transitioning our transit provider links (Level3, Comcast, twtelecom, InterNAP) and peering to RMIX over to new Cisco routing gear. During this process, we will gracefully shutdown the BGP connection to each provider, allow all traffic to cease passing on each link, physically move the link to the new router, and bring the link up. Customers will likely notice small periods of increased latency and packet loss as routes reconverge when shutting down and bring BGP sessions back online.
